Terms and Conditions for the trial relating to smart boiler monitoring box (VR920) 


By clicking “[Add to Basket]”, you are giving HomeServe Membership Limited (“HomeServe” / “we” / “us”) permission to constantly monitor the data generated by your Monitoring Device relating to your boiler and your central heating system, including personal data.


We will use this information to:

  • to develop an algorithm, which would analyse such data and determine when a boiler isn’t functioning as it should be;
  • To alert you if the data identifies a fault on your boiler.
  • To contact you by post, email, phone or SMS with information about products, services and special offers that we feel may be of interest to you, unless you have requested otherwise.


We will share your data with Vaillant Group UK Limited who is the manufacturer of the VR920 and with Skyrad Limited and Skyrad Consulting Limited who are helping us to develop a boiler monitoring solution. We do not share your data with any third parties for marketing purposes. Terms and Conditions for the trial relating to smart boiler monitoring box (VR920) 

You have agreed to participate in the trial of a new product, the VR920 (the “Monitoring Device”). The Monitoring Device will constantly monitor your boiler to spot if your radiators or hot water are no longer working properly (a “Fault”). Where a Fault has been detected, you and HomeServe will be notified) (the “Trial”).

The Trial is conducted by HomeServe Membership Limited, trading as HomeServe Connect, with registered address Cable Drive, Walsall WS2 7BN (company registered with number: 02770612) (“HomeServe” / “we” / “us”).

There is a limited number of Monitoring Devices and participation in the Trial is on a first come first served basis. Applications received after the stock of Monitoring Devices has expired will not be processed.

To participate in the Trial you need to be eligible and to agree to the terms set out below.  

In order to be eligible for the Trial, you need to:

  • have a Vaillant or Glow Worm boiler that is compatible with the Monitoring Device 
  • have an insurance cover arranged by HomeServe that contains a Gas element 
  • be able to connect to WIFI in your home, and
  • have a device to receive Fault messages and alerts (tablet or mobile).

By signing up to this Trial, you agree to the following terms:

  • We shall have the right to constantly monitor the data generated by your Monitoring Device, including personal data (the “Monitoring Activities”).
  • The Monitoring Activities may last for up to two (2) years from the date you agree to participate in the Trial.
  • You must not remove the Monitoring Device for the duration of the Trial.
  • You will not receive any remuneration for participating in this Trial.
  • HomeServe will contact you if a Fault has been detected via your Monitoring Device.
  • You can ask us to stop alerting you at any time by contacting us at BoilerSMS@homeserve.com by stating STOP in the subject line.
  • You can stop the Trial at any time by contacting us at BoilerSMS@homeserve.com and stating REVOKE in the subject line. In order to stop any Monitoring Activities, you will also need to turn off the Monitoring Device at the power supply. We will confirm in writing to you that your account has been deleted. Any removal of the Monitoring Device will be your responsibility and at your cost.

    • We are not responsible for:
      • any costs, loss or damage that you suffer as a result of your Monitoring Device and/or your boiler and/or your heating system not being installed, maintained or working properly or you not complying with instructions relating to your Monitoring Device and/or your boiler and/or your heating system;

      • any costs, loss or damage that you suffer as a result of a problem caused by loss of connection with the relevant network;

      • any costs, loss or damage that you suffer as a result of not receiving or acting upon a Fault message;

      • any costs relating to the identification and repair of an issue as a result of a Fault message;

      • any increase in your energy bill;

      • replacing the batteries for your Monitoring Device;

      • any costs, loss or damage that you suffer as a result of us providing you with a Fault message.

    • As part of the Trial, you agree to share with us any ideas or issues relating to the Monitoring Device and this Trial. Any ideas shall automatically on creation vest in us absolutely and you agree to execute all documents and do all acts as may be necessary to give effect to this.
    • We reserve the right to not disclose the results of the Trial with you. We reserve the right to publish trends about Faults, their frequency, their link to particular circumstances or boilers. This information may also be shared with other companies within the HomeServe group to help them better understand the potential for fault identification and management, identify product or service opportunities or help us generally improve our operations.  
    • We reserve the right to amend the terms of the Trial at any time and will notify you in writing.
